Want to Save YouTube Videos? How to Save and Play Movies From YouTube

Have you wanted to save a video from YouTube? Millions of videos are uploaded each day, but just as many are deleted. Make sure you save your favorite videos to your computer's hard drive so you can always watch them in the future. There are several ways you can do this.

A few websites help you download files from YouTube and other video sites with simple scripts. You just enter the URL of the video, and the site sends your browser a file to save. This is usually an FLV file. If the file has no extension, you need to rename it as .FLV. Sometimes you will get a .mp4 file.

Sometimes, these websites fail. One problem occurs if the video you are trying to watch has an age-restriction setting. Then, the script will not be able to access the video file automatically. In this case, you can still save the file by digging through your browser's history files and renaming the right file as an FLV file. This is easy to do with step-by-step technical instructions best described elsewhere (see below).

Once you have an FLV file, you can play it with one of several free FLV players. If you are wondering what an FLV file is, it is just a Flash video format. You do not need to convert to AVI or MPEG to play. Simply download a free FLV player to watch it.

That's all you need to do. Now you can save and watch your favorite YouTube videos any time. Have fun watching!
